HOW IT WORKS
THE PIMFA UNDER 40 LEADERSHIP COMMITTEE (U40LC) IS A WIDE-RANGING, RESEARCH LED INITIATIVE THAT HAS BEEN RUNNING SINCE 2016. IT BRINGS TOGETHER THE NEXT GENERATION OF RISING TALENT AND FUTURE LEADERS TO RESEARCH KEY TOPICS IMPACTING OUR INDUSTRY.
Spanning over 9 months the programme consists of 6 structured meetings ran by PIMFA for the delivery of specific goals related to the research which are explained below.
In addition to this, the Under 40 Leadership Committee (U40LC) participants are expected to meet numerous times informally as a group to progress their work by brainstorming, conducting secondary research and data analysis, drafting the end report, creating their presentation and also practicing for the delivery of their findings to the industry and wider stakeholders at a half day conference.
Meeting onE:
LAUNCH OF THE NEW COHORT
As well as the opportunity to network with their peers, they will attend an insight session from PIMFA and some of the previous years cohort about what to expect, top tips, their experiences and what they’ve taken away from it.
Following this the hard work begins and under guidance, each of the groups use this time to decide on their research question.
aCTION AFTER THIS MEETING
In their own time the U40LC will be asked to conduct secondary research around their chosen topic area and research question.
Meeting TWO:
SURVEY DESIGN
Now that the groups are familiar with their chosen research areas its time to interrogate the question further and agree the hypothesis so the participants can create the questions they want to send out in a survey to thousands of people.
To help with this we are delighted to be working in partnership with leading research consultants, Savanta. Their experts attend on the day to brief the U40LC and assist in this part of the process.
aCTION AFTER THIS MEETING
Savanta will distribute our survey and collate the responses. The participants will be asked to also share the survey across their networks.
Meeting THREE:
ANALYSIS
The U40LC meet again once all the responses have been collected to begin the data analysis process and interrogate whether their data supports or refutes their initial hypothesis. Aided by Savanta, PIMFA and subject matter experts who are invited to the day to help bring further insight, context and meaning to their findings to aid with the writing of the report.

aCTION AFTER THIS MEETING
Groups to organise themselves effectively to finalise their analysis and understanding of the data and findings. This may require further meetings in their own time.
Meeting FOUR:
BRINGING IT ALL TOGETHER
Armed with the data, key findings and wider in- sights the cohort now gather to bring everything together and plan the construction of their report and agree the roles and responsibilities across their teams to create their final report.
aCTION AFTER THIS MEETING
Groups to organise themselves effectively to draft, finalise and send their reports to PIMFA. This often requires additional meetings in their own time.

Meeting FIVE:
LAUNCH DAY PREPARATION
This is an opportunity for the participants to finalise their presentations, refine their decks and key messages and practice their delivery in front of both the PIMFA team and other groups in the cohort.
aCTION AFTER THIS MEETING
Groups to create, finalise and send their presentations to PIMFA.
